Mohandas – Review

Rajshri Films this time comes with ‘Love U Mr. Kalakaar’ which is different from their usual family drama along with wedding sequences. In fact, this movie relates to the corporate world. However, the same old love story, of course, forms a significant part of it. Yes, but without much of a wedding or related song and drama scenes. Shouldn’t the banner owning Barjatyas think about the changing scenario in films world over. Hopefully, they would in their own as well as fans’ interest. In ‘Love U Mr Kalakaar’, Tusshar Kapoor playing Sahil is a cartoonist. This is another matter that the movie fails to impress the viewers with his job. He struggles to win his love interest Amrita Rao playing Ritu , a management trainee. Though both the lover and his beloved belong to two contrasting nature, they are madly in love with each other. While Tusshar is simple and down-to-earth, Amrita hailing from a rich family is completely urban in her life style. As is usual in Bollywood, Amrita’s rich father Ram Kapoor throws a challenge to relatively poor Sahil to prove his love for his daughter by giving up his brush and enter business. Being true to their love, Ritu and Sahil enter business. Luckily, both adapt to new circumstances and cooperate with each other. Meanwhile, Sahil completely floors Ritu by his simplicity and sincere love. Ritu also does everything to teach her lover in the art of management!

For providing romance in the film, director S. Manasvi introduces Aman Malhotra played by Prashant Ranyal. Aman is Ritu’s childhood friend, but suddenly develops a liking for Ritu. On the other hand, Manohar Awasthi played by Jai Kalra aspires to be a managing director. Is this adequate content for a film, especially coming from the stable of Rajshri Films? Certainly not, though the movie’s well-crafted dialogues do fill this vacuum to some extent. In spite of the weak script, both the lead actors - Tusshar and Amrita – perform quite well. Amrita is known for the banner’s earlier movie titled ‘Vivah’ opposite Bollywood’s chocolate boy Shahid Kapur. In this movie, she is seen in her new avatar of a corporate woman entrepreneur. Amrita isn’t her stunning stuff in the movie. The lead actors don’t get support from the music department which is usually found in plenty in Barjatyas’ movies. Really speaking, music has been the banner’s USP. Sandesh Shandilya's music is there though and Kunal Ganjawala has worked hard at the title song.

Besides the lead actors, Prem Chopra as Ritu's Nana acts good. Ram Kapoor as Ritu’s dad acts exceedingly well. Though he is tough with would be son-in-law Sahil, the director doesn’t let him turn a villain. After all, every father wants his daughter to be married with one who could make her life happier. Madhoo doesn’t get adequate role to justify her presence. Kiran Kumar replaces Barjatyas’ favorite actor Mohnish Behl. Overall, the movie isn’t a big deal though it comes from a big banner.
